The safety issue with the 12V battery is that we have to make sure that the power assisted brakes can be used 2.5 times after the ignition is turned off. This can be done with a big vacuum tank or the 12v battery. So the 12v battery can be very small.
My comment about the 1.2KWhr 12v battery is not a saftey issue, it is mearly my way of getting more KWhr into my car. This is because my main battery pack is 114 batteries (360V nominal) which is the practical limit for the DMOC, so if I can avoid the main battery pack supplying power for the 12V system, I get a greater range.
For you, if you were to add more batteries, then they should be added to your main battery pack, as you are a long way from maximum volts.

I am all for safety... from what? Do the additional accessory battery cells have to have the same Ah as the main pack cells or could I use say four 30Ah cells for my accessory battery in conjunction with my 500W DC/DC converter?

In Australia you are not allowed to have a vehicle without the 12V battery, supposedly for safety reasons. I decided to go the other way. That is, I am now using 4 Lithium batteries for my 12V system with a 500W DC/DC backup. This gives me an extra 1.2KwHr from my main battery pack or about 5Km extra range. I have 114 main batteries however, which is the practical limit.

Also I wonder why you went with 42 180Ahr batteries instead of 84 90Ahr. The extra performance would have been worth it?
What is your maximum speed? With 42 batteries I would think that 60mph would be close to you terminal velocity.

Walter I am not sure I still have that file but I will look. There is some expertise at Electo Automotive and if you write to them or call them they could help you. They are the ones which helped me NOT Azure. Do you have a manual for your DMOC? You can get one of those on line still. I hope this helps

Hi, I read your article with interest, because I have just finished increasing the voltage in my Electric Mazda MX5 form 240V to 360V. The PAR file I have is not correct anymore, and I would appreciate it if I could see the 336V par file you were originally given. Azure has now filed for bankrauptcy and so cannot help me.
I have got my car going reasonably well (0 to 60MPH in 12 sec) but the torque goes almost to zero at about 6500rpm, so I would like to compare my attempt to the Azure PAR file.
Thankyou for your time
Regards
Walter
